Langland

A view of Langland taken at 10:00 after our swim in the sea. The air temperature was zero degrees centigrade and there was a keen north easterly wind. The points fading into the distance are: Langland Point, Pwll Ddu Head, and Oxwich Point.

Photographs of 3 The Promenade, Mumbles taken for Linda, USA. The view is right opposite the house - unfortunately the tide was out, it's so much more attractive at high tide.

David Evans has closed

The long-established department store David Evans has finally closed. They have wasted no time in removing the name from under the clock, and now a well known feature of the city centre has gone for good. This is a sign of the relocation of shops to malls situated on the periphery of the city. Too bad if you do not have a car and have to walk like us - and of course the bus service is basal.

Swim at Rotherslade

Our swim this morning was not ideal. There was a high tide running and the recent storms had scoured the sand from the top of the beach so we found the surge of the waves was pounding us with pebbles. But we had our morning dip somehow.

Mumbles Dawn

This picture was taken at 08:00 on our way to our morning swim at Langland. The tide was full in and the surge of the sea onto the pebbles was too strong for us to swim there. So we walked around the cliff path to Caswell and had our swim there.

Sketty Hall

I walk past Sketty Hall everyday on my way to work. Bought my new Canon EOS 300D today. Jessops matched the online price of £600. Also my new Epson R800 printer arrived yesterday, so things are moving.

Morning swim at Langland

Went for our morning swim in the sea at Langland. Sea temperature about 10 degrees, as was the air temperature, so it was quite agreeable. When I took the following photographs I realized that I had left my camera balanced for tungsten light by mistake (from last night) and this resulted in a blue cast. I took most of it out with color saturation adjustment but it left a strange "early morning" feel to the sky. Got away with it I think? But had to go B&W for the surfer which perhaps looks better for it?

Walk to town

Walked to town to buy some new Trazeta hiking boots this afternoon. Pretty windy and cold, but dry. Took the above shot of Uplands on our way home. Jessops said they would price match Amazon for the Canon EOS 300D so if I decide to buy I'll certainly go back there.

Just to start my blog off here is a picture of Mumbles.
