Pity the huts are not so well looked after

Disgusting! Someone been having beach bonfires?

My grandparents used to rent a hut every year and I remember the year we had one of the 60s or 70s... I think there used to be 72 in the original block + the newer 12 at the western end that were built in the late 50s early 60s I remember.

As a matter of interest do you know whether the huts are currently still Council-owned or privately owned?

I have been looking.. and contributing to.. the Langland and Rotherslade entries on WikiPedia.. both of which were limited and wildly inaccurate in the case of Rotherslade before I got to them!

I am not sure but I believe they are still owned by the Council and up to last year were rented out for monthly rental periods throughout the summer. A large proportion are now in a very poor condition. I heard that they are to be leased for a large sum which would pay for rebuilding by council and exclusive use of the "tenant" for 10 years before reverting back to council "ownership" - not a deal I would go for when you can but one at Rotherslade for about 8K
